About

Despite growing up in the city, with two parents that had never set foot on a farm, at the age of three I began to constantly talk about horses. Fortunately, my mom was supportive and took me for riding lessons at the age of four. I always say those lessons were my "gateway drug" to my current life of horses. While I grew up doing 4-H and local shows, my horsemanship went to the next level when I began working with wild horses while living on the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. It was there I began to learn the language of the horse, and just how important the way we show up in life is - both with horses and in our relationships.

After a very successful career in gentling wild mustangs and rehabilitating last chance horses, I felt that I wanted to be of more service to humanity. Shortly after setting that intention, I met a man who introduced me to Equine-Assisted Learning. I knew right away that this was my calling and took the necessary steps to become certified. Through this work, I took my equine communication capabilities to the next level and felt I was at the height of my career.

After eight years of training with Natural Horsemanship and four years of practicing Equine Assisted Learning, I found myself at the mercy of a life shattering strain of events. I unexpectedly lost my father (who was my best friend and business partner) and consequently my farm, my business, my home, and many of my horses. A few years later, as I started to get back on my feet, I lost my heart horse - a mustang named "Boss". Loosing Boss not only took the connection I had always felt with horses, but also somehow took my confidence.

It was a devastating blow, and I was unsure if I would ever regain what I once had. Little did I know, the wisdom I was about to receive would change EVERYTHING. Not only would I regain what I thought was lost, I would open an awareness to concepts far greater than I had ever considered regarding the connection between horses and humans. This wisdom has given me more than I could have ever imagined. So it is today, on my father’s 8th angelversary that I am starting the Reflection-Based Horsemanship blog where I will share my discoveries, insights, challenges and triumphs, with the hopes of inspiring others and creating a better life for both humans and horses.
