About Katy
Hello! My name is Katy Hubbard and I wear many different hats; sometimes more than one at a time, too. A few years ago, I would have introduced myself as Katy Hubbard- teacher, wife, horse farm manager, horseback riding lesson facilitator, life-long learner. Then I became a mother and became Katy Hubbard- mother, teacher, wife, horse farm manager, horseback riding facilitator. Last year, I added a new title- cancer patient. Let me tell you, adding that title was never ever on my list of things to do before I turn 40. Nonetheless, it was added to my list of titles. And now, I am proud to say that the title of “cancer patient” has changed to “cancer survivor”.
Ever since I was a little girl, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher and own a horse. I graduated from Saint Mary of the Woods College in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education (grades 6-12 Social Studies) and was a member of their Equestrian Team. Since 2007, I have worked for two different high schools, teaching subjects such as World Geography, Psychology, Sociology, US History, and AP Human Geography. I have also been a barn manager for two different horse farms where I ran the day-to-day operations, gave riding lessons to every rider ability level, and trained horses for other people. All of these titles- mother, wife, teacher, horse farm manager, horseback riding facilitator, and cancer survivor are all of the pieces that make me who I am and what I am most proud to be.
